A preview of what’s ahead: my curation of 35 hotels in Florence, a two-week Itinerary that starts in Palermo and ends in Athens (with many beaches and hotels in between), a spotlight on Our Habitas, one of the most unexpectedly elite hotels in Italy, a Connecticut cottage hotel to know, where I’d stay in Barcelona/Lisbon/Porto/Berlin, a cool hotel in Antibes, and 3 hotels under $500 (private island in Malaysia, Dolomites, Switzerland). Happy hoteling, you good people with good taste!

Oh! This is also a reminder that paid annual subscriptions are 15% for a few more days. Aaand my happyhoteling.com guides to Capri, hotels in Rome, and hotels in Tuscany are still 20% off with code EARLYFRIDAY until the end of the week.

1. My Florence hotel list

This week, I’m finally sharing my full Florence hotel list. It’s one of my favorite cities in the world, perhaps it’s because it’s where my parents met and my dad lived for 25 years. Perhaps it’s because I specialized in the Renaissance as an Art History major. But mostly, I think it’s just undeniably beautiful, historical, and fascinating. I love Florentine food, too and the people are my kinda people. Firenze forever. Ok, but the hotels! If it’s not listed, it’s just not my choice. The list spans price, aesthetics and locations - but they’re all great options for a trip to Florence. 11 five-star hotels. 17 other fantastic hotels. 7 hotels just outside the city (farther than Fiesole). 35 hotels - the curation with something for every Florentine traveler.
