The Curation: Volume 2
My Rajasthan hotel list, an ultra-luxury Cabo hotel sale, a 3-week slow travel itinerary in Italy and Greece, affordable bucket list rooms at hotels in Italy , and the YESs from an iconic hotel book
A preview of what’s ahead: The debut and backstory of my long-awaited creation of The Comprehensive Curation of Hotels in Italy; 37 hotels that make up my Rajasthan, India hotel list; a One&Only Palmilla sale; a 3-week slow travel summer itinerary from Puglia to the Greek Isles and lastly to Lake Garda (only unpack once a week); the YESs from the Taschen book on hotels in the Mediterranean; four Italian hotels with suites that are as grand as those that charge a grand per night, but are largely under €300/night.
It’s here!
I’ve been working on this for nine months, but it’s not a human, it’s The Comprehensive Curation of Hotels in Italy. 505 of them. All Happy Hoteling-approved, of course. The answer to any and every trip to Italy you could ever have. Properties all over the country, all sizes, all prices. In fact, 175 of the hotels have rates starting under €250/night and 74% of the properties included have rates under €500/night. This is a way to become an expert on hotels in Italy. It’s also a way to guarantee you’re never staying somewhere less-than-special ever again in a highly special country. Plus, the digital guide it comes with an accompanying map, so you can plan in real time.
A bit of backstory:
My parents met in Florence in the late 80s. They named me after Marisa Berenson, who lived down the street from my mom in Venice.
My first vacation was to Italy, at 11 months old.
As you likely know, in my world, all roads lead to Italy. I’m lucky to have traveled to the country about 40 times. For many weeks or a month at a time. I’ve made Italian best friends and important connections. It’s made me me.
I’ve scoured the country and the internet and everything in between for all the best, most special hotels in the home country of pizza and pasta and Pucci and Gucci.
The result is this. A curation of 505 hotels throughout the country. From hotels that cost less than €100/night to those that charge 10x that. You’ll find minimal and maximal and everything in between. A wide variety, yet a tight curation.
I hope this allows you to get to know Italy like I do. That’s the goal, with all of this. I’m incredibly grateful for your support.

I’m so excited about this. I worked incredibly hard on it. Really, it’s the culmination of my 32 years of lived experience. I’m proud of it, and I hope you love it.
The Rajasthan, India hotel list
Over the past year, I’ve been unnecessarily obsessed with the state of Rajasthan in northern India. As I mentioned in the last post, as a maximalist, the geographic material history is calling to me in all caps. I’ve gone so very deep into research. This is where I’ve netted out: 37 Hotels. All special, as always. Throughout the state. Now, I most go, stat! If your initials are MWD(P) and you’re reading this - let’s do it.
On to the hotels, and my gd are they good.
