Hello, Good Person with Good Taste!

Thank you for being patient with this, I wanted to deliver the rest of my Morocco trip in one single post. It always seems you like the long, in-depth ones most, and I agree. In order to do that, I had to finish out my trip.

Marrakech cut me straight through. Tangier etched into my spirit. Essaouira both caught me by surprise and delighted the eyes. It was two weeks I’ll be telling tales of for the rest of my time.

From the get-go, I wanted to ensure I could be as honest as possible when writing about this trip. That means, I didn’t reach out to any hotel or tourism board for a collaboration or press rate, and this was an entirely self-funded sojourn. Because I am one of the lucky ones who gets to call Substack my full-time job, this post will be entirely paywalled.

The next post will share a whole bunch of new hotels that you should know about, and two Rome hotel reviews. In the next few weeks, I’ll also (finally!) be unveiling my full Happy Hoteling Around the World map, available for founding members and on happyhoteling.com. This will be a Google Map of all the hotels featured on Happy Hoteling, as well as the many other countries and destinations I have hotels for but have yet to write about. The holiest of holy grails, you could say, and something that I don’t know to already exist in the curated travel digital ecosystem.

Today’s post may be my longest ever. We cover:

  • My full Morocco itinerary, and what I’d tweak in retrospect.

  • A love letter to Tangier, and my guide of where to stay, eat, drink, and shop.

  • A review for the two hotels I stayed in Tangier.

  • Marrakech, through my mind: my overall experience, thoughts on being a solo female traveler, my souk strategy, eating with allergies, and a short list guide of where to eat, shop and stay.

  • Two hotel reviews for places I stayed at and have mixed feelings about – one riad in the Marrakech medina, one hotel in Essaouira.

  • My somewhat brief take on Essaouira, no guide.

  • Finally, my next dream itinerary to Morocco.

It will be long and thus, if you can’t read it today, it will always be waiting for paid subscribers in the archive. Also, if it gets cut off in your email, please click the link to view in browser or the app. Having everything all be in one post is my attempt at making up for the less-than-ideal Substack search function.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE! Morocco is magical.

xMarissa
