The Curation: Volume 12
The Morocco hotel list, 5 slow European two-week itineraries, an expert guide to local Italian activities, family-friendly Caribbean hotels, special European rentals, & an Australian island hotel
I’ve been wanting to do an itinerary-heavy post for a while. This week, I got many Instagram DMs asking similar things - suggestions for two European destinations to go and stay for a week at a time. Slow summer travel. So, I put together five itineraries for that, with their respective hotel options. For what it’s worth, it’s not as simple of just thinking of two great places and listing them - the pairings are all strategic.
It’s also the week of the Morocco hotel list. I’m thrilled about it!! Overly, perhaps. I figured it was time to stop gatekeeping two special rentals for two different instances: one great for solo travel in Liguria, and one great for groups a la Slim Aarons outside Sevilla, Spain. I found a space for the family friendly hotels, by shared a family-friendly curation of last week’s Caribbean Hotel List. A spotlight on a bucket list-worthy luxury hotel on a remote island in New South Wales, Australia. Aaaand…I’m finally answering the questions that everyone asks and I typically avoid - what are the most special Italian activities (this week in Venice, Florence, Capri, Amalfi Coast, Emilia-Romagna). Local experiences, the things that you can only do in this one place in the world. This will be an ongoing series that I hope will help all of you have the most special experiences in Italy — not just at hotels. No links this week (I ran out of space), but I will be sharing on a Note (my first!) this weekend.
The Morocco Hotel List
I convinced you! Morocco had the most votes for this week’s hotel list. I’m so happy. It’s been in the making since May 2021 - I have scoured the internet and personal intel to find the special of the special, all throughout the country. 93 hotels in total. Not a single meh.
Desert, beach, mountain, historic village, medinas and of course, Marrakech.
One of the reason’s I’ve felt strongly about sharing this list is because Morocco’s tourism took a hit after last year’s earthquake and the war (which by the way, is nowhere near Morocco). It’s a country who’s local people benefit from hospitality, and I want to help where I can help - especially when I write about something as fortunate as hotels. There are so many gems of hotels in so many spectacles of sites, I can’t wait for you to dig in to the list.
As always, hotels marked with an asterisk (*) are my top choices for my own personal preferences. All the hotels on the list are a “YES”, but I think it’s helpful to share which places I would choose to stay at, personally. Also, I tried so hard to find a way to identify which hotels are family-friendly. The age policies vary so much property-to-property which makes it a bit too tricky.
Please cast your vote in the comments for next week’s list!
