The Curation: Volume 6
The African Safari hotel list, 60 affordable luxury Italian honeymoon hotels, desert hotels, a 2-week slower off-the-beaten-path Italian itinerary, and a charming villa rental in Tuscia
I’m so sorry I’m late this week - it’s been one heck of a seven days. If you’re in good health and your parents are too, count your lucky stars for me, ok? But better late than never, and it’s Super Bowl Sunday, which I find predisposed to phone time. Go Niners! (I hope this ages well)
Here’s the agenda for today - it’s good good, folks. First of all, my list of 141 African safari hotels/camps/lodges. Then, a curation of 60 (I promised twenty, but I like to over-deliver) honeymoon hotels in Italy with nightly rates that start under €400. Next, three desert hotels I’m obsessed with. It was time for an itinerary - this week, a 2 week slower travel itinerary for the Italian road less-traveled. Lastly, a gem of a villa rental in one of my favorite towns in Italy. Ok, it’s game time. (Pun most definitely intended)
A Curation of My Top Choice African Safari Hotels, Camps, and Lodges
Lions and tigers and lodges, oh my! 25 in South Africa. 31 in Botswana. 24 in Tanzania. 27 in Kenya. 16 in Zimbabwe. 12 in Zambia. 4 in Rwanda. 1 in Namibia. 1 in Uganda. 141 in total. A highly, highly researched list. What I value: conservation, comfort, style, location, service, and soul. As always, I’ve arrived with all price points. A safari something for everyone. Because who doesn’t have this experience on their bucket list? And those who have experienced it already typically can’t wait to return time and time again.
While it’s not necessary, this is one place where I’d recommend working with a travel agent or a DMC (destination management company) such as andBeyond, Natural Selection, Yellow Zebra, etc. They know the ins and outs of the land, the seasons, the everything. Many of these properties function as a DMC as well. This list is for you to find your perfect safari soft spot, and then let the people on the ground do the arranging. To Africa we go!
