The France Hotel List: Fall '24 Edition

As the second-most requested country, I figured now was a good time to share my updates to The France Hotel List. Today, we have 33 new arrivals, all across the country. Some I speak about briefly, others I go more in-depth – every name has a comment, and everything is organized by region. Now, The France Hotel List Google Map holds the 430 most special hotels in the country (I think, if I counted correctly). Capital L Luxury and humble hideouts alike. Hidden gems and known names. Well-trodden (and tagged) paths and places less-traveled. Beds with a $90 nightly price tag to a $2k+ nightly price tag. The OG list was very thorough, so only the standouts made the cut for this new edition.

I hope you continue to love on this list – please plan all the trips to France and continue to report back all the memories. That’s what I love most. Because when you boil it down, this is really all about memories. I’m in the business of memories! Not a bad one.

Access to The France Hotel List will now live in this post, in the archive, in a standalone, easily-searchable way for you to find it when you need it. Let’s be extra clear here, the list is a map. The map. A holy grail map, if I may say. All my personal top choices are marked with a yellow pin.

While it’s too long to write out an explanation for each of the 430 names, there will be a new version updated on happyhoteling.com sometime soon. The Google Map (including the updates) is also available for purchase on there, if you’re not looking to become a paid subscriber right now but want the list. It is the same exact thing as here – just the link to the Google Map, which is at the end of this post and already in the archive. The Happy Hoteling website (and what’s for purchase) is getting a big upgrade – and sooner than later. I’m so excited. A new, broader version of this map will evolve into Happy Hoteling in France. When it’s released, it will be sent to everyone who has already purchased it – no fear.

I’ll be back in your inbox on Sunday with a very exciting guest In Residence and so many things other things…I’m having a hard time choosing what to share first. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, I’m on my third week of sharing a Hotel of the Day on stories daily, and it’s fun. There’s no particular rhyme or reason, I just pick one the night before, after the sleepy gummy has hit. When there’s a world of hotels living in your head, it’s a strange and satisfying challenge to choose one hotel to share each day.

Lastly, let’s get the first Happy Hoteling Live on the books – an hour-long Q&A where you can get your real trip questions answered in real time, for paid subscribers. My readers range, and for that I’m so lucky, but it’s hard for me to know what time is best for everyone. I’ll do a poll today on my Instagram Stories, let please me know what works best for you!

Thank you tremendously for being here. Let’s get to France.

Additions to the France Hotel List

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

  • Vaucluse

    • La Ponche Haute Provence – As soon as I came across this a few months ago, it instantly claimed one of the top Must Stay spots for B&Bs in France. And France is a country where I truly enjoy, sometimes prefer, a B&B. First off, this is just so French, and just so Provençal. In the best way. It’s cool without trying to be and inviting without necessarily wanting to be and well-curated, instinctually. Super fancy, it is not. The location, in Vacqueyras, a few towns over from where I stayed on one stop my last trip to Provence, is a great base for exploring.
